"Ora et Labora", Saint Benedict counsels us and so we hear his call to prayer, to work, and to hospitality. As we seek to develop monastic community and prayer, we try to support our family life through prayer, work, and reaching out directly to those who have come to know us. Monastic life gives shape to our day, allotting time for prayer, work, study, and silence. Prayer, our most important work, permeates all facets of our life, but throughout the day we come together formally to pray the Hours of the Office and to intercede for the intentions of the Church, for those in need, and for all those who request our prayers. True to the primitive mode and attitude of Benedict Rule and Spirit, we chant the Divine Office and wear the traditional Benedictine habit. As the Benedictine experience teaches, we continue to discover that love nourished in silence as well as speech, in solitude as well as in socializing. In this silence we "incline the ear of the heart" (Rule of Saint Benedict) to hear the whisper of God which permeates all creation.
At this time we invite those individuals seriously considering the possibility of a Monastic vocation to contact Reverend Mother Mary Peter. Although we are still in the formative stage, our mission is deeply rooted in the Benedictine Spirit and the traditional monastic decorum. At present we are seeking mature women secure within themselves, with the desire to be transformed in the measure of the Gospel, to follow in the footsteps of Our Holy Father Benedict, and the Rule that he prescribes.
